A gem, April 6, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Tamron AF 24-135mm f/3.5-5.6 SP AD Aspherical (IF) Lens for Konica Minolta and Sony Digital SLR Cameras (Electronics) I bought this lens because of some favorable comments I read on a few photo sites. I purchased a Sony A850 but did not want to spend almost 2K for the Zeiss 24-70. I liked the idea of the focal range and felt it would be a good starter lens. I have been surprised at the quality of the images coming out of this lens. It is the best bargain for full frame.

Not this lens. The clarity and sharpness is amazing. The zoom range is perfect for a walk-around lens. I have used it for landscapes, portraits, street photography and even telephoto shots of wildlife. The minimum focusing distance and 1:3.3 magnification make it a decent macro zoom and great for shooting flowers and other subjects close-up. This lens is on my camera 90% of the time. The only thing that would be better is if it had a constant f/2.8 aperture but then you wouldn't be able to get it at this price.
